Lucy is not killed!. She is attacked, possibly raped!. They leave it vague like that so that you will believe that she was killed (Sweeney Todd believes that she is dead until the very end of the movie, after he kills her and sees her blond hair!. He doesn't recognize that the old crazy lady is is wife until it is too late)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Benjamin Barker was a happy man who had a beautiful wife, Lucy, and a baby girl, Johanna !. Judge Turpin also liked Lucy so he had him arrested for a false crime!.
After 15 years Benjamin returns to London and had his name changed to Sweeney Todd!. He returns to his barber shop in Fleet St!. which is now a meat pie shop owned by Mrs!. Lovett!.
She told him that Lucy died poisoning herself and his daughter was taken by Judge Turpin!. Upon hearing this Mr!. Todd swore to have his revenge on the judge!.
Everyone who comes for a shave in his barber shop,he kills and Mrs!. Lovett uses their meat to make meat pies for the re-opening of her meat shop!.
Anthony a friends of Mr!. Todd, sees Johanna on her window and falls in love with her, but upon seeing this Judge Turpin sends her to an asylum because he wanted to marry Johanna himself!.
Anthony seeks help from Mr!. Todd and told him to go there as the wigmaker's apprentice so he can enter the madhouse and free Johanna!.
Meanwhile Tobias, Mrs!. Lovett's "adopted" son is sent to the bakehouse and teaches him how to make a pie and leaves him there!. He asks her if he could have a pie and she said he can eat as many as he likes but when he was eating his pie he found a human finger on it and discovered that the pies were made out of human meat!.

It seems that their plan goes as plan, yet only the beggar woman notices that something is wrong!. Sweeney kills Adolfo Pirelli (Sacha Baron Cohen) because he recognized him as Benjamin Barker, and hires his assistant, a young kid named Toby, to help him in the factory!. Meanwhile, Todd's friend, Anthony (Jamie Campbell Bower) rescues Sweeney's daughter, Johanna (Jayne Wiesner) from the clutches of Judge Turpin (Alan Rickman), who arrives at Sweeney's barbershop!. Sweeney awaits his revenge!.!.!. when suddenly the beggar woman burst into the shop, cursing the wicked place, as she suddenly recognizes Sweeney!. "Havn't we met before, Mr!.!?" she asks Sweeney!. Shocked, he slits her throat and sends her body to the bakery!. Then, he takes out a knife and kills Judge Turpin!. Meanwhile, Toby notices the dead bodies in the bakery as Beadle's (Timothy Spall) body falls in, and realizes that Todd killed Pirelli!. Todd arrives at the bakery along with Mrs!. Lovett after Toby, wishing to kill him as he witnessed the crime!. When suddenly, He looks at one of the bodies!.!.!. the one of the Beggar woman!.!.!. and horrifyingly discovers her to be his wife, whom he thought to be dead because of Mrs!. Lovett!. Mrs!. Lovett asks him to forget her deed, yet Todd throws her into the oven and burns her alive!. As he clutches onto his dead wife, whom he killed, he sings of his past days as a naive man, just as Toby approaches behind him and slits his throat!. Todd's blood drips onto his dead wife's face, and the two lovers, lost in the world of curruption, die still as a rock in the dark warehouse of dead bodies!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Mrs!. Lovett told Sweeney Todd that his wife was posioned and died at the party!. She only did it so they could be together!. That is why at the end of the movie Sweeney throws Mrs!. Lovett in the fire because she had decieved him to believe that his wife was dead!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
