What you have described could apply to a lot of ethnicities!. Genealogist don't take into consideration appearances but trace ancestry using documents!. Since you are adopted, I can understand you are at a disadvantage!.

However, an Autosomal DNA test might help you!. The only company I know of doing Autosomal for genealogy is DNA tribes!.

You get your Autosomal DNA 50-50 from both parents coming down from all your ancestors!.
Y & Mitochondrial is all that is used by most companies and it is very valuable in matching people with other family trees as they both go back in a straight line virtually unchanged!. Y is passed from father to son only!. Mitochondrial is passed from mother to both sons and daughters but only the daughters pass it on to their children!.
However a test for Mitochondrial and in addition if you were a male would not give you the DNA of your ancestors who were the spouses of your direct Y & Mitochondrial lines!.

As you go back the number of people you descend from pyramids!. For instance, barring any duplicates, if you get back to your 6xgreat grandparents (that is 9 generations including yourself), you are directly descended from 510 individuals!. Of those 510 individuals, you get your mitochondrial DNA from only 8 leaving out 502 people and in addition if you were a male you get your Y DNA from only 8, that would total 494 people left out!.

A lot of these companies that are doing Y & Mitochondrial testing are very helpful in matching family trees and when a person can make a match with other family trees, through research, they can then discover the ancestors who were the spouses of their direct Y & Mitochondrial lines!.

However, they will advertise that they will help you discover "your deep ancestral roots!." That is true, except it is only in those 2 specific lines !. I don't think they are trying to be deceptive but I don't thinks they realize that a lot of lay people reading that think it will give them a total perspective of their background and no way will it!. They don't realize that a lot of people will not be putting 2 and 2 together!.

Now, how complete and accurate are the ethnicity testings using Autosomal!. I don't know!.
Other companies were doing it in the past and stopped doing so and I understand they would give you something like Northern European, East Asian, North African etc!. You have to understand the same DNA crosses national, racial and ethnic boundaries!. Using Autosomal!. from what all testing companies will say, is far more complicated but it is the only DNA that represents your total ancestry!. When you go into the DNATribes website there is a place you can email them and get more information!.

I know I have given you a lot of details but I feel others will advise you to get a DNA test done!.
Therefore, I feel you should understand what you would be buying!. There might be other companies using Autosomal DNA for ethnicity background but so far none of the links that have been furnished indicate they do it!.

You could be anything! Maybe you're mixed!. Just because ur a Blonde doesn't mean you can't have some African or Arab in you!. You really can't tell these days!. I can't really guess!. For example, Alessandra Ambrosio and Fabiana Semprebom are Brazilian but they don't look it at all!. I look Spanish but I'm not; not even near it!.
