Question: What would you define me as!? Heritage wise!?
I am in my early 20's and I've lived in the United States for a long time!. here is a little about myself though:

I was born in Venezuela and raised there until age 5 (this is when I moved to the US)!.

My father and his family were direct immigrants of Italy (fresh off the boat after World War II)!. This makes 50% of my heritage that of indigenous Italians, I believe!.

My mother and grandparents were born in Columbia, however, my grandfather's father came from Italy (his wife too, presumingly, although that is not certain) and my grandmother's parents came from Spain!. Something odd though is that my grandmother's parents had a dutch sounding name conjoined to their very Spanish sounding name, so that could be in the mix as well!.

So what would you consider me!?
please don't say "a human being" or something like that!. serious answers only please!. thanksWww@QuestionHome@Com

You have a very interesting heritage! There are actually many answers to your question and it depends on whose naturalization laws you want to use!.

Technically, you are a Latin beauty!. That's because Italy, Spain and Columbia are all using the Romance languages based on Latin!.

Then you have to look at when they left Europe for the New World!. The Holy Roman Empire may be in your blood!. You may also descend from minor lines of the nobility!. They were colonials from the looks of it!. So they were neither poor immigrants nor accidental tourists!.

Spain would actually call you the Grandchild of a Spaniard and allow you to have Spanish citizenship with little or no hassle!.

Italy would also allow you to claim Italian citizenship because of your father's natural-born status!. You could have an Italian passport, Spanish passport, Colombian passport and possibly even an American passport if you've been naturalized!.

The Dutch name probably came in when the French, Dutch and Spaniards were all redrawing lines!. Spain ruled the Netherlands for awhile, so adding a local marriage amongst aristocrats or politicians would account for the name and the heritage!.

I may be wrong, but you could probably spend a month with a few archives and a couple of visits to some Catholic churches and get your tree written back about 5 centuries without a lot of fuss or money!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

An American who's half Italian, half Colombian!. But if you want to break it down even farther, make that three-quarters Italian and one quarter Spanish!.

You'd want to confirm that "Dutch-sounding" name before claiming it!. My grandmother's maiden name was "Holland," and she thought she was Dutch, but if so, it was so far back in the genealogy that I never found it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
