When my daughter was born, my mom had the same issue!. She thought "granny" sounded so old!. So she decided she wanted to be Nana!. However, when my daughter started talking, "Nana" came out sounding like "Nina" (pronounced neena)!. It stuck!. Now 14 years later, my daughter still calls my mom Nina!. It doesn't really matter since the kids will call you their version of what you come up with that you want to be called!. My daughter the first grandchild took her grandmothers name of choice "Meema' and called her 'Moome"!. It stuck and all the grand kids call her Moome!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

My grandson calls me Grammy!. I just waited and let him figure out what he wanted to call me on his own and he decided when he was about 18 months old that it was Grammy!. He could have called me anything he wanted and I wouldn't have cared!.!.!.!.!.!.grandmothers are like that!. lol

Nona, I think it's italian and I like it, or you can make up a name!. This is really silly but I call my grandma Granny Fox because of a character in a book she read to me as a little kid!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course this is a personal choice!.

My mother wanted to be called Nana as this is grandmother in italian!. Now there's lots of trinkets and such with Nana written on it!.
