Brierhurst is an English surname, a combination of 'Brier' and 'Hurst'!.

Brier:
English (Yorkshire): topographic name for someone who lived by a briar patch, Middle English brere!. This was also applied as a nickname for a prickly, difficult person!.
+
Hurst:
English: topographic name for someone who lived on a wooded hill, Old English hyrst, or habitational name from one of the various places named with this word, for example Hurst in Berkshire, Kent, Somerset, and Warwickshire, or Hirst in Northumberland and West Yorkshire!.

It's English!. "Brier" or "briar" is another name for the wild rose; "hurst" is an Old English word meaning "wooded hill"!. So "brier hurst" would be a wooded hill where wild roses grew, and a person with that surname would be someone whose ancestor lived by such a hill!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it is Dutch!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
