Question: Professional genealogist!?
Hi, does anybody know of a professional genealogist, who would charge per person instead of 'per ancestral line' or '2 generations'!.
If anyone reading this who is a professional, and who would be willing to charge per name, please contact me!.

Thank You
Zoe!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi Zoe, I don't think you'll find someone to do that!. They would have to charge you an exorbitant fee!. Even just researching "one name" could get costly!. There could be 100 copies that have to be made, and many trips or letters to courthouses!. My advice: don't go cheap!. Just hire someone you trust to research whomever!. Or teach yourself how to do your own research and do so on a "As Time Permits" basis!. That's what I did and I've been researching now for 27+ years (but I enjoy it)!.
I hope this helps!.

Genealogists are like fishing or hunting guides!. The only honest way to pay them is by the hour / day / week!. On a really bad day, you could beat the bushes all day and not find a pheasant / deer / lion to shoot!. If your guide was honest and you were reasonable, you would still pay him!. An honest genealogist could spend two weeks on a 5th great grandmother and STILL not find her maiden name!. If your genealogist was honest and you were reasonable, you would still pay her!.

It takes more skill to "hunt" dead ancestors than it does to paint a house or dig a well!. The results are less assured, too!. An honest genealogist won't give you a guarantee of results, just a guarantee of an honest effort!.

Plus, what does "per person" mean!? BMD date and place!? School records!? Obit and marriage articles!? Poring over the village newspaper cover to cover, on microfilm, from 1912 - 1988 to see if he was mentioned in the school results, cricket league results, police reports, social column!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not to mention!. a "person" may involve more than one location, and many professionals work on certain localities!.!. ie documents from THAT county courthouse or that state archives!.
As long as the person is not living!.!. I really encourage you to post the person's name and what details you have!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
