If you're an Ancestry World Deluxe subscriber like I am (or if you know one), until September 30th you can get a maternal DNA kit (including test results etc!.) for $71!.60 US!. This is for you to find out information about your mom's mom's mom's mom's (infinity number of moms) blood line!. The male DNA kits are roughly the same price, they only tell a male about his dad's dad's dad's dad's (etc!.) branch of the family tree!.

If you are looking to prove who your birth father or mother is, I see you can get a test at Walgreens!.com for $14!.99 US!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In my opinion Family Tree DNA is the best, and most competetive company, You can find out all about them and their pricing at : http://www!.familytreedna!.com/
I recommend that you join one of their surname projects and receive a discount on their prices!.

Edit: They are an American company, but it really makes no difference, I am with them and I live in England!. If you wish, they have a Europe based site : http://europe!.familytreedna!.com/
They also do the testing for the National Geographic's Genographic Project!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

One of the most expensive is probably "Oxford Ancestors" - see Professor Sykes and his book "Seven Daughters of Eve"!.
I had my matrilineal test done by them as a special birthday present, which gave me a "Clan Mother" they called "Una" who doesn't figure in his book at all, but it looks as though my origins are Asian!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am sure there are other sources, but you can purchase DNA kits through Ancestry!.com's website!. The cost is between $149 and $179!. I suggest you go to the site (www!.ancestry!.com) and click on the DNA button to link the questions and answers!. You may need to set up a membership prior to obtaining the kit!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can buy a pretty cheap one online, about 20 dollars!. It'll have using instructions!.

However, sending it in and getting the results usually cost another hundred or so dollars!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

http://www!.genebase!.com/in/dnaAncestryPr!.!.!. is one place you can go!. there's quite a bit of information there for genealogical research!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

National Geographic DNA Research - about $100!.00Www@QuestionHome@Com
