Question: What name is "Jus" an abbreviation for!?
I've been reading old census records in an attempt to research my family tree, and a male's name was abbreviated to "Jus!." Does anyone know what that means!? This was in the 1910 US Federal Census!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I could not find any listing for a "Jus", but found these:
Jas!. = James
Jas = James (with the "s" as a superscript above the "a")
Jos!. = Joseph
Josh = Josiah (with the "h" as superscript above the "s")

Then, there is "Jud!." for Judith

( I did not see Justin listed anywhere among that time frame!. I think Justin is of more modern usage than 1910, so I'd bet money on either the Jas or Jos listings!.)
