if you put your dates and names into the search part of www!.genesreunited!.co!.uk you may get some results!. however if this doesnt work you could google the nameWww@QuestionHome@Com

The social security death index has 10 Clifford Dietz, and a few who MAY fit your person!. Remember, the ssdi won't include persons who died prior to the early 1960s!.!.so he might not be in there!.
Seems that a birth in 1917 means they were NOT married by 1930 census!. Your first step is to prove the dates of birth for both children by their birth certs, to be certain this is who is shown as father, and see what is the time frame for a marriage!. IE, if grandpa's sibling that you mention was born in 1934, the marriage is prior to that date!. If the OLDER child is born in somewhere other than St Louis!.!. you would suspect the marriage was there!.
Since Florence was likely with her parents in 1930!.!. Clifford could also be with parents, or another family!. My ancestry acct is not open so I can't search that!. If the index pulls out 4 of them!.!. and one HAPPENS to be in the same county as grandma's family, he is a good target!. Assume (for example) that you do find such a Clifford, in 1930, and now find he was born 1910!. Go back to ssdi, and try to match that to one of the entries!.
I grumble about the gap between 1930 census to 1960 when the ssdi starts!.!. but it isn't impossible!. KEEP talking to family members (grandpa's sibling, children of sibling, so forth)!. Never know if you won't run into a comment/ photo/ !? and have someone say
"oh!.!. I know we went to see him in Montana when I was 8, and we never heard anything else"!.
Sometimes it is a game of collect the clues and keep narrowing it down!.
edit-
good for Joyce!.!.!. the guy she found is a GREAT possible!. It does not match ssdi, so (1) he could have died before 1960 or (2) he may still be living!. I'd sure be wondering where the above guy lived in 1930!.!.AND WHO HIS PARENTS/ SIBLINGS WERE!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
