Question: Naming procedures!.!.!.!?
Why do girls who have the same name as their mom, not have a "junior" at the end of their name!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Particularly before the advent of computers, parents often bestowed upon their daughters a first given name honoring a female relative while reserving the right to pick a trendy or fanciful name as their daughter's second name!.

Moreover, while a girl is often named after her mother to carry on a family name, a girl's mother, in turn, is just as likely to be named after another female relative!. I share, for example, my mother's first given name, but I have a different middle name since my mother's middle name is her mother's maiden name!. My mother's first name, however, is her dad's youngest sister's middle name, which was also the name the family called Aunt Evelyn!. This process, of course, can leave some women, such as myself, with very dated names!. Imagine all the daughters and grand nieces of Tiffanys and Brittanys forty or fifty years from now!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I didn't know that was the case (but then again I've never known a girl named after her mom)!.!.!. I would assume its because when they get married their last name will change and will therefore not be the same as their mother's!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
