Yes, I do!.!.!.I started around 1974 when I was in my early teens!.
I started by asking the elders too many question's!. ;)
So many people copy what others have or what they find on site's bearing the family name!.
They don't stop and think - that the information on these site's might have been copied from another who never took the time to verify the information!.
Never assume!

I made that mistake once and I wasted over a year!.!.!.
The surname was correct but the person who gave me the information never verified any of it!.
I assumed they were right!.!.!.they had so much information and so many name's!.

I had a feeling I was on the wrong track and I should have listened to my gut instinct from the start!.
Sure the surname was correct but they weren't related to me at all!.

Just because someone has many descendant's and a lot of famous people in their tree!.!.!.well it doesn't always mean they've done their research!.

I love people who say that George Washington was they're GGGGG Grandfather!.
He had NO biological children with Martha but he did have two step children!.
Martha had children with her first husband but none with George!.
Good Luck and enjoy the journey!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes!.

Everyone on the "Wine and Spirits" board drinks!.

Everyone on the "Religion and Spirituality" board has strong religious convictions!.

Everyone on "Books and Authors" has an interest in books, although some of them have more of an interest in having someone help them their homework than in reading the book themselves!.

I'm beginning to see that your question isn't as naive as I thought at first!. Genealogists research genealogy, the way stamp collectors collect stamps!. About half the questions on this category are of the form "What country did the Smith family come from!?", and we get asked the Taylor Swift code word of the day frequently!. The difference between a second cousin and a cousin twice removed comes up at least once a day!.

The top 10 answerers here have all researched their genealogy!. All of the other thoughful answerers here have too!. Note "thoughtful"!. We get our share of point-grabbing kids who answer "No" or "IDK"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course! Doing your own researching is the only way to be certain that you are being accurate!. For me, hunting and researching are the most fun parts of doing genealogy!. I enjoy a good mystery!. A copy paste job from someone else's work is no fun at all!. You might as well photo copy a book and say you wrote it!.

Yes!. Among the trivia that I learned along the way was that I am descended from William the Conqueror -- as is probably almost everyone in the UK!. Which brings new meaning to the term "father of his country!."Www@QuestionHome@Com
