Celts originated in Central Europe, there were Celtic cultures in Brittany and Cornwall, as well as Wales and Scotland!.They were pushed further into these territories by subsequent settlers and invaders!. Belgium, Spain, Portugal and France both have significant Celtic heritage, for example!. Roman expansion drove the Celts steadily Westward and North, as did later German invasions!. As the Romans didn't conquer all of the British Isles, and neither did the subsequent German invasions, the areas that were on the fringes of those conquests bare the most undiluted Celtic languages and customs!. The Celts of Ireland (probably immigrated from Spain) crossed over to what is now Scotland!.
