I can read but don't particularly care for it!. My husband is the same way!.
Our daughter is the bookworm!. She loves to read!. My parents liked to read a lot and so does my sister!. So I am wondering if it in the genes somewhere!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
There is no specific gene for the enjoyment of reading, so in the strictest sense, it isn't hereditary like blue eyes or curly hair!.
That being said, genes play a large role in intelligence and personality, so it's definitely possible that whatever aspects of their personalities make your parents and sister love reading also play a role in your child's love of reading!.
Another important component is her environment!. Does she have access to lots of books!? Does she spend time with your parents and sister, and friends who like to read!?
Still another important factor is experience!. Perhaps when you and your husband were children, the way you were taught to read and the materials available made it less fun, less engaging, so you never really developed an interest or learned to read for pleasure!. And maybe your daughter has had a great teacher who caught her interest or made it fun and exciting to learn, and you and your husband have given her a lot of praise and encouragement and access to reading materials that challenge and interest her!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
