Question: What nationality is the name Inessa!?

To avoid confusion:
The form Inessa of the name comes probably from Rusiia or a Baltic country , were it is frequently used !.

Abut etymology: it is true that such a pre-greek town existed near Aetna (a volcano) in Sicily, established more or less around 3000 or 3500 BC!. Location should be betweencurrent towns of Paterno' and Santa Maria di Licodia!.
The name came from Sicanian language and probablly from the indo european words "Ich" (water) and "nessa" (place)
If the etymology of your name come from this, you have a really really rare name!.
A more standard , even if less interesting etymology, comes from variations of the Greek word hagne (meaning is : "Pure") , later passed to Latin and became an Italian name (Agnese, Agnes in English) !. Diffused in Spain, Portugal and Spanish speaking countries as Inez or Ines!. In the Greek and later orthodox /Russian world the name evolved as Inessa
