It could be short for Genevieve (my grandma's name!)!.

After Googling 'ginny', it might also be short for Ginevra!. I've never heard of THAT one before!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ginnie (or Ginny) can be short for: Virgina, Genevra, Genevieve, Ginevra, or Guinevere!. The name is (usually) Brittish, as both Genevieve and Guinevere were characters in British Mythology!. (The others, like Genevera and Ginevra are different versions of it!. I would also suggest talking to relatives to find out about this mysterious "Ginnie"!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Jenny was a common nickname for Jane!. It was usually spelled Jenny or Jennie but it's possible some people could've spelled it with a G instead!. Another one you could try is Jeanette!.

Have you looked for her under just "Ginnie!?" Maybe that was actually her full name!?!?
