Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Unfotunatley I think it's a case of visiting the place!. You may be able to access parish records etc for any christenings etc (if they were christians)!. It is also useful to look up historical records for the area which may mention what you are looking for - examples could be the old 'tourist' books they used to produce in those days!. The library of national archives would be the best place to try!. You could also possibly track down wills etc through them or the parish!. Try to find out who owned most of the land in the area at the time - their documented records may mention something to do with your family!. I'm trying to find out about a farm my grest grandfather lived in around the same time and it is really difficult!.
