There's a big story behind it, but after my grandpa was born, my great grandpa changed his family's last name to Kurpit (my last name right name)!. Before that it was Goldberg, and before that, the original was Kirpichnikov!.
I was wondering if anyone thinks I should change it when i turn 18, because I would really like to have the original last name so it's more authentic, rather then a made up last name!. We get a lot of fluff heads on here trying to make their names into 21st century flowerchildren!. But you're trying to honor your family and return to your heritage!. I'm the same, I've always rathered my original last name!. I'm German, but when racism towards Germans arose in the early 1900's and in the 1940's my family anglicized the last name!. to answer your question, i think it would ok to switch back to your original last name!. (plus i think Kirpichnikov sounds a million times cooler than Kurpit)Www@QuestionHome@Com Do what you wish!. But remember, at one time, all last names were made up!. Be nice to future generations and document the change fully and extensively!. Leave lots of records laying around!. It would depend on if your family is known for something, ot if your all known as being the Kurpits or whatever!. I like that original, but man its hard to pronounce!.
