Jen, there is no magic crystal ball website that looks through the monitor at you, to tell you your family history!. Reputable web sites will not usually have info on ANY live person (ok, there are sites that are not ethical, but we won't go there)!.
What you CAN find online are thousands of sites that explain how to find your ancestry!.

This is the beginner area of Cyndi's!.!.!. but it is just the tip of the iceberg!. Which of the others will apply to you, depends on what you find!.
The standard is to start with you!.!. your birth certificate has the names of your parents, and you find that at home!. Next, your parent's birth certs will name THEIR parents, and if your grandparents have birth certs, the same applies!. In fact, your grandparents might be living, so they can tell you the names of THEIR parents or maybe even grandparents!. You still want to get records, but this gives you names and places, and approx!. dates!.
FOR THE MOMENT!.!. focus on the facts, and understanding how to find records!. Up front!.!. maybe 75% of persons who think they have Indian (native american) ancestors!.!. find out that it was never true to start with!. Don't spin your wheels on that!. Find the people first, and IF they WERE Indian, it should show up in those records!. Back in the days when people could not get to actual records, persons relied on oral history!.!. but it never occurred to them that oral history can be misleading!. It was taken as gospel, no matter what!.
Remember!.!. you are 1/2 of whatever your parents are!. You have 4 grandparents, thus are 1/4 of each of them!. 1/8th of each gr grandparent; 1/16th of the next generation!.
By the time you get back 3-4 generations, you will be working with persons who are dead, and can be found in historical records!. Historical does NOT always mean online!. If you limit yourself to "online"!.!. my tip is that you really don't care about it, and need to find a different hobby!. No offense!.
If you REALLY want to know where your family comes from, you will be flat amazed at what you can find!. People here happy to help!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Asking your family would definitely be a helpful first step!. Your oldest living relative (perhaps on both sides of your family, or whichever is Indian) should know quite a few names and places!.

If you mean "India" Indian or "Native American" Indian, I'm not sure!. Native American Indians may show up on familysearch!.org if you enter in a deceased relative's name(s)!. It is a really good resource for looking up your genealogy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
