You have 8 great grandparents!. ASSUMING that you have solid proof that she was 100% (each of her parents were!.!. no need to go further back, it is obvious)!.!. then that is 1/8th of your heritage!.!. you can convert that to a decimal 12!.5%!.
this also assumes that NONE of your other gr grandparents had any Cherokee lineage!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I believe you divide it in half for every generation!. It gets complicated if you have a lot of other nationalities, too!.

Ex: Your great-grandmother was 100% so her child (your grandma or grandpa) would be half Cherokee (from her mom) and half of what the dad was!.

Then the 50% Cherokee and the 50% of whatever the other parent was (100% total) would be passed on to the child (your mom or dad)!. That child would have 25% Cherokee, 25% of the other nationality of the grandparent, and 50% of the other grandparent!.

Then your parent from this line would have 25% Cherokee and 25% something else, your other parent would give you 50% of something else, so you would be 12!.5% Cherokee!.

In other words, the Cherokee gets cut in half for every generation unless more Cherokee is introduced along the way!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If your greatgrandmother (100%) married e!.g!. and englishman then their child would be 50% Cherokee Indian!. This carries on until you, so you would, in theory, would be 12!.5% Cherokee Indian!.

Im only guessing, so its not deffinate or certain!.

You might be able to find it more accurately on heritage websites to find the other nationalities of your family etc and get an exact % of yourself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The percentage of indian in you is determined more by your heart than for your blood!.

You have certanly indian blood, but: do you feel indian!?!.

My mom′s grand mother was native american as well, may be nahoa descendant (a mexican ethnic group similar than apaches), and my mother who is 1/4 indian says she is a full indian, nevertheless she does not keep all the indian traditions and the other 3/4 of her family are of spanish and italian origin!.

My father is white, spanish mixed with french and I dont feel like an indian, none like french or spanish, I am simply mexican!!!!.

By the way, it is great to have some of indian in us!!!! dont you think so!?
