If your ancestors were Catholic, there will almost certainly be records of their baptisms and marriages at the parish they attended!. Baptism records will list their date of birth, their parents' names (including mother's maiden name usually), and also the names of their sponsors/godparents, who are often relatives!. With a little luck, you can trace your family back many generations just using the church records!

To find a baptism or marriage record, the first step is to determine which church the family attended!. Parishes usually have geographic boundaries, so if you know where your ancestors lived, it should be easy to find!. If they lived in an area with several churches close together, you may have to check each one!.

Once you've narrowed down the church, you can contact them by phone or letter and ask them where their baptism records are kept!. Some churches will have them there on site, but some may have sent their older records to the Archdiocese archives!. Either way, they should be able to tell you how to go about ordering a copy of the record!. You'll usually be asked to send a written request along with a small fee or donation!.

Many Catholic church records have been microfilmed by the LDS (Mormon) church!. The microfilm is stored at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, but you can borrow it and view the film at your nearest Mormon church!. Just look in the phone book under Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and ask for their Family History Center!. They'll be glad to help you!. You don't have to be Mormon to use this service, and don't worry, they won't try to convert you!. :)

You have ancestors, as does everyone!. Unfortunately, it is a misleading assumption that ALL GENEALOGY is online!. The reality is that the majority of genealogical records are made accessible for the more developed countries, primarily the US and UK!.

Per this!.!. vital records were initiated in Mexico in the mid 1850s!.!. actually earlier than some American states!. They do exist!.!. however, you have to take the initiative to locate those records, AND search through them for the records concerning your family!. In some cases, you may have to travel to the home town or state, to personally find what records might also be there!. And, more so than many, you need to investigate the standards of records, to know what to use!.
With no intent to condescending!.!. this is how research was done, before the internet!. For some of us!.!. the standard is to find it offline, and anything on the internet, is gravy!. No!.!. it is not easy, and it all depends on how much you truly want to locate your ancestry!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
