Thousands of them!. That question comes up on genealogy bulletin boards ALL the time!. There is a special GenForum page for adoptions, and the Google Directory has a whole list of sites where bio parents looking for children they gave up can register or adopted children looking for their bio parents can register!.

i dont know but my aunt was adopted and we found her though a confedental intermediary!. she said she may or may not ever be found or it could take a few months to a several years to find her!. she found her in 6 weeks!. my segestion is to look into a confedental intermediary and see if they can help!. and if he was born in california then it might be near to impossible to find him!. but mircales do happen and you may find him!.

In the UK there is a system whereby you can register that you are "willing to be found"!. This means that if your son is looking for you, your details will be made available to him!. Is it possible that such a system exists in the States!?
Our Social Services (Fostering & Adoption Department) would be able to advise the procedure here!.
