You really are looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack!.
If you have his full first names, and they are uncommon, you stand a chance, but just looking at one City, say, Chester, there are 20 guys on the Electoral Roll called John Williams (just as an example name)!.
I have a less than usual first and surname combination so am the only one of me registered to vote - easy to find!.
The North West is a large area to find a nameless guy!.
Follow It's Just Me's suggestion and try www!.192!.com; in the box which asks for "Location" you could try each of the Cities or Counties in turn or just type in "United Kingdom"
Friends Reunited is now totally free (from the beginning of this month) - there are some half-dozen of us who volunteer to do searches on a pretty ad hoc basis!.
If you are fairly certain of the City area in which Dad lives you could try a letter to the local newspaper, addressed to "The Readers' Letters Column" and ask if anyone could help you find him!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are many great sites such as the one's listed in your answers!. I found my dad recently through the website I've listed below!. It maybe just a fluke because I just stumbled across it!. Hope this helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

192!.com is a wonderful site if you have a rough idea of where in the UK your father is, if not try contacting the the Salvation Army they are very good at finding people!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Have you tried genesreunited!.co!.uk or www!.192!.com !.Without a location for him it's going to be really hard for the researchers who frequent this forum to help you, sorry!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
