I have Ancestry and would be willing to help!.!.!.

Thanks for providing the info you do have!.!.!. I've sent you 3 reply messages with data from the 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930 US Census records for your great grandfather, born in 1882!. also his WWI and WWII registration info!. Enjoy!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Genweb has a genealogical website for almost every county in all 50 states!. Some of these sites have extensive contributed resources including transcribed census records!.

If you have a particular location in mind, try locating a genealogical society or group from that area!. I'm sure that you could find a source for a free look up that way!.

As stated in other answers, the 1880 census is already available through such websites as familysearch!.org

The 1890 census was lost in a fire/flood!. Some of the other census records are damaged as well for various reasons including age!. The 1940 census forward have not been released to the public yet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Mormons put 1880 on line for the world:

For the rest you usually have to go to a library and use it there, at their machines, or go to a Family History Center and, again, use it there!. Call first!. At the FHC I go to there is usually someone with an Ancestry account who will log in and let you use it for the evening!. Others have more formal arrangements!.

Ancestry & Heritage Quest both spent tons of money indexing and digitizing the census!. They expect a return on their investment, unless Bill Gates wants to donate the US Census to the world out of the goodness of his heart and the depth of his pocket!. Everytime a library allows access to any patron, from home, word leaks out, as does a library card number, and before the week is out thousands of people across the country are using it, at which point the library's account is suspect!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Nearly all US libraries now offer either Heritage Quest or Ancestry!.com for free use from their computers!. Your local library may also have an agreement with HeritageQuest that allows you to access it from your home computer using your library card as your ID!.

Call your local library and see which genealogy resources they make available to you and how!. You'll be surprised at how much they offer for free!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They're public information, so I'm sure the past censuses [or is that "censi"!?] must be online!.

Contact the Census Bureau's website: http://www!.census!.gov/

If the data is NOT online yet, you could probably call them to get the information you're seeking!.

Happy hunting!Www@QuestionHome@Com
