Question: Regulars, are you constantly having problems with Error 999!?
I have had the problem for about 3 days!.
I have run my Norton virus (deep) scan and also have run a separate spyware!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have the same problem every so often!. In fact, I recently asked about it and here is the answer I chose as Best Answer:
"You get error 999 when posting a link that is overposted such as wikipedia, utube, photobucket, etc!. The "hot" websites!. You see, right now there are between 100 million and 200 million wikipedia links posted on yahoo answers for example!. Someone is clicking on those at a rate of 20 to 30 per second!. It is overloaded!. Clogged and congested!. By contrast, if you post some obscure website that has no traffic at all, it will probably post!."--from Professor Armitage

Other suggestions were:
"Are you including links in your questions!?
I get that "Erorr 999" response when I try to link to Photobucket!. If I remove the link in my question/answer everything is fine!."--from Don't Try This at Home! ?

"Just found out that even without pasting a link and only typing the name of the site didn't work either, so I typed rootsweb(dot)com and that worked!."--from kpfrombc

Maybe these will help!. I did the virus scan, too, and came up with Adware from HotBar, Inc!.--a program I THOUGHT I had deleted/uninstalled 2 years ago!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, constantly, but more so last week!.
I contacted Yahoo! and they had no idea!.
If you run your spyware, etc!., regularly, as do I, pay no attention to it!. Yahoo! Q & A has so many weird happenings!.!.!.Points disappearing (with no notes, notices, etc!.), type out long answers only to get error 999 (or the Yahoo! just "freezes")!.
I have found that if I copy my answer, go back to the section I was answering a question in (genealogy, polls, etc!.) and answer a different question I do not get the 999!. However, sometimes when I attempt to answer that particular question again, I will again get the 999 error, but sometimes it will allow me to give my answer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have the problem off and on!. Had it just now!.!. after 2 tries, the post went through fine!. Have had other posts this morning with no issues!.
I have long computer background!.!. if ONE message goes through fine and the next one "chokes up", that does not seem to indicate anything with any virus or other computer issue at your end!. It is real handy to blame things on viruses, since it spooks people!.!. but the way it happens, is NOT NOT consistent with that kind of issue!.
I would honestly think that the likelihood is that yahoo is choking on incoming stuff and not honest about that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I had one once, but it was only on one particular question!. I ran the usual scans with no detected!. I could answer anybody else, but just not this one, so I assumed it was a network problem or that the person had blocked harmless-little-fuzzball me!.

No problems except that one time!. Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I get it every month or two!. I post the same links from the same text file every day, since the kids ask the same question every day!. Usually it works!. Sometimes it doesn't!.

About a week ago I got an odd error - not 999 - when I posted my standard answer to "Free web sites!?" I got the same error on a second question when someone asked "Does anyone know {reasonably common name}!? , with no country or decade and I posted 200+ entries from the LDS sites with a line asking the person to take his pick!.

So, I cut my standard answer down and it worked!. Then I pruned the LDS entried to AF only (37 or so) and THEY worked!. So, I assumed there was now a length limit!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have that problem sometimes!. It used to be a regular thing!.

I think it comes from posting links so many times!. Here is the link to the question I posted for answers a few months ago!. Hopefully the answers I got will help you too!.

My problem is with that goofy ad on the right side of the screen!. It keeps sliding all the way to the left side of the screen and wiping out everything in its path!. Maybe the ad has some bad programming and is related to your Error 999!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Tend to agree with Windy!. Had our favorite computer guru out last week, he could not entirely spot the problem!.!.!.but he also agrees that it's Y!. Suppose that all their 'updates' are causing other problems as well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is a CONSTANT problem under this category, thanks VERY MUCH to Jan for telling me why! I'll start doing "dot" instead of "!." when referencing Ancestry "dot" com and other favorites!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
