Just because your ancestors lived in a particular country (in your case Spain and Ireland) prior to coming to the United States or anywhere else for that matter, does not mean that all their ancestors were likewise living there!. My own ancestors lived in Germany and England for generations before coming to the U!.S!. but when I traced them back further I found that they also had French, Hungarian, Italian, Spanish, Austrian, Greek, Swiss, and other roots much further back!. The short answer is that even though it was less common back then, people did move so even if you know that they lived in one spot or another prior to their immigration, does not mean that someone else further back didn't live in some other nearby country!.

also, you mention that your ancestors were from Spain!. Much of Spain was once occupied by the Umayyad Caliphate from the Middle East, so it is possible that you had Arab ancestors through them, although tracing back that far might prove difficult if your ancestors weren't from well-to-do families!.

Maybe all of your ancestors were as you say, Celtic, but remember that it only takes one person who wasn't to change all that!. One person who moved in and married a Celtic ancestor of yours would have had their own whole line of ancestors elsewhere who didn't have Celtic roots, and in a place like Spain which saw so many other peoples like Romans, Arabs, French and so forth invading and settling their territory over the centuries would probably tend to be a bit more diverse!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Unlikely!. The Celts lived 2000-4000 years ago, and since then Ireland has been invaded by (among others) Vikings from Scandinavia, Normans from France, and English settlers!. It would be impossible to trace your ancestors back that far - you'd be very lucky to even trace them back a few hundred years!. And that's just the Irish side of the family!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
