This is the same answer I have previously given, and, no it does not seem to be a name which originated in Italy or anywhere outside of the USA !

Born on April 20, 1823 in Wheeling, Virginia (West Virginia), Jesse Lee Reno was the third oldest of eight children born to Lewis and Rebecca Reno!. The spelling of “Reno’ is an anglisized version of the French surname “Reynaud”!. Jesse’s ancesters, having arrived in America in 1770, shortly changed the name to the phonetically simple ‘Reno”!.

The man who was named Gaetano Iannone in his native Italy was by then known to acquaintances as “Joe Reno!.” Asked why he used the surname Reno rather than the original Iannone, Joe’s explanation was that when he worked for the railroad the paymaster could not correctly spell or pronounce “Iannone!.” The paymaster chose to use Reno instead, and the name stuck!.

In the Spanish language : 'reno' = 'reindeer' !

I do not believe there are many reindeer in America, or Spain !
It seems that the name Reno is probably of American origin, being the anglisized name of various migrants of European origin!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I did a bit of digging, and I am not certain that it isn't associated with several places!.
Ancestry offers 'places of origin' for the name!.!. including France, Italy, Germany and even England!. It should be noted that this is based on certain immigration records and is not NECESSARILY all inclusive!.
2nd!.!. I did a bit of looking at persons with this surname who were in the 1880 census, scanning for those who seemed to be older, AND looking for where they stated their parents (father) to be born!. A good number of those were in New York, and gave the parents birth place also as NY!. What I gather from this, is that the parents would have been in the US/ New York, at LEAST in the late 1700s!.
My personal opinion!.!.is that some information MIGHT be traditions, which are not completely consistent with the records!. The obvious would be that YOUR ancestor, of the Reno surname!.!. could very well be from Italy!. You would HAVE TO find specific records to be certain!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
