Was your grandmother named Elizabeth!?
I can find nothing in ancestry!.com except an entry for her!.
I have a feeling that the name was misspelled or written down wrong!.

Maybe one of the gurus here can find something else!.

Good luck on your search!.

Have you found all the entries for William Schwab, the son-in-law!? That may help!.
This is the daughter of Elizabeth!.

back to basics!.!.!.
WHAT facts do you have concerning the person with this name, AND what is your source!?
The only clue in ancestry!.com is the lady that Joyce located!. The issue with that Elizabeth, is that Northid (as it shows up on the census) is not her maiden name, it is her married name!. It looks like John is the husband!.!. and it would be HIS lineage that works!. You must find records of the husband/ father, and if your Elizabeth is an Northid by birth!.!. then this lady is not the right person!.
Overall!.!. I see almost nothing using ancestry for this spelling!. If it does go into Pennsylvania like this family!.!. I am going to wager that it is not the correct original name, but a variation of something else!.
You cannot determine origin by surnames!.!. for exactly this reason!. You MUST find facts on your Elizabeth (assuming this is her family name), and see who her parents were!. Only using one source is risky, since the source used might be the only one using the incorrect version of the name!.
If you don't have valid facts regarding the gr gr gr grandmother, then you need to drop back to more recent info, until you can use the info to pinpoint the right place to be searching!.

if your line does go back into PA!.!. then you are up against a high percentage of German names, and also Dutch names!. Red flag for name variations/ mispellings!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I had the same luck with the searches, but I saw a Northid, PA!. Would it possible that your ancestor would have the same roots of those that settled in that city!? It may be a place to start!. also, any chance her name was altered when she came here (i!.e!. Ellis Island!?)Www@QuestionHome@Com
