Your best bet may be to research Tsavo lions!. They're very unusual in that they're surrounded by "regular" lions yet the males have no manes, their growls are different, and the way the dominant males act in taking over a pride are different from other lions!. There's a huge amount of research from people interested in why the Tsavos are so different, and in doing their research they of course have to deal with what the "regular" lions pass on to their young!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
