my Grandmother's maiden name is Epp and in the village she is living there are a lot of Epps.
My granny lives in a little village called Dielheim-Balzfeld. That is in Baden-Wuerttemberg. in the Dielheim/ Wiesloch/ Rauenberg area I found 251 entries in the phone book for Epp.

Was your grandmothers name spelled Shelling or SCHelling?
Germans usually don't start words with SH. SCH is the common spelling around here.
