Position:Home>Genealogy> How do I know if i've found the right person?

Question:I am searching my family and trying to find out about the birth of Hannah Hollins. My problem is that i have found 2!!

The first is Hannah Beatrice Hollins, born JFM qtr 1899 in Aston.

The second is Hannah Allerton Hollins, born JAS qtr 1900 in Stoke-on-trent.

I know that the Hannah i'm searching married charles turner in 1919 and they had 2 sons, james in 1920 and joseph in 1929.

How do i find out which Hannah is mine? their is nothing on genes reunited because i've looked over and over.

***Editing post reason: LETS TRY AGAIN!****

A Charles Turner married a Hannah Hollins in Burnley, Lancashire in 1919:

'England & Wales, FreeBMD Marriage Index: 1837-1983
about Charles Turner

Name: Charles Turner
Year of Registration: 1919
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
Spouse's Surname: Hollins
District: Burnley
County: Lancashire'

So this is for DEFINITE!

I have given some sources too.

My head will implode.

EDIT: lmao!! I looked at your other question and it's all about Burnley :P Haha Searching for two hours I was SO proud that I found Burnley and you had it already :P

I can still help before I fall asleep. Can you tell us what information are you specifically looking for out of all of this? :)

EDIT: I have looked for more for you, but cannot find anything solid. Have you asked Social Services? They have records dating waayyyy back and if your father was adopted in this way, they would know. Since he is the child and his mother has died, they may have some kind of record?

I have had this same problem- it helps if you can search earlier and find either Beatrice or Allerton somewhere in your tree.It gets tedious. Good luck

The marriage certificate of Hannah to Charles Turner should give her full name, age, and the name of her father. Allerton looks like a surname, it might be the mother's maiden name.
The birth certificates of the 2 boys might give her full name, or the second initial.

HANNAH BEATRICE HOLLINS is your Hannah !
Brides generally married in the parish they were born in.
.
There is only one Hannah Hollins marrying a Turner in 1919
Dec. Qtr.1919 Burnley 8e811
Three Hannahs married in 1921, to Walker at Holbeck, and Wills at Wolstanton.
and
Hannah A Hollins married Robert G W Wooldridge
Stoke on Trent Dec Qtr. 1921 6b547
this Hannah was born and married in Stoke.

Women had children well into their 40s but I think it unlikely to be the Burnley one, the only way to be certain is to get the marriage cert. it will give her age even if it doesn't give the middle name you are looking for, and you'll also learn who her father was. Sorry I'm getting tired now !! can't concentrate !! I do now agree that the Burnley one might be correct, again, because brides tend/ed to marry in the parish they were born in, as seems to be the case with this Hannah.

Death :-
HANNAH BEATRICE HOLLINS Sept Qtr.1900 aged 1
Aston 6d 199
It's looking more like Burnley Hannah is the one !!

hmmmm . try searching charles turner and see if they match .
it says that hannah hollins was born in aston see if he was or if he was in stoke-on-trent.
best i can do . i hope i helped (:
bye

Have you found the right people now Michelle. Are you still searching for Charles birth year, I would actually check on the census returns further back, you may find that the 1901 census year was just an estimate of birth year. Where was Charles born or where is he on the 1901 census. I would like to help if I can.
Michelle, is this the right Charles and his family in 1891 census,
You searched for Charles Turner born in Lancashire in 1878

I checked on the birth index for 1882, and yes I think the Charles born in the O/N/D is more than likely the Charles you should buy a birth certificate for. I don't know whether you know this but the the same rules applied then that we have now, there is a period of 42 days (6 weeks) in which to register a birth. So this Charles could have been born anytime from say the middle of November to the end of December 1882, and he could have been registered in January 1883. I have come across this in lots of searches for births.
