I googled any Orphanages in Addison, Illinois & it looks there is only one. It has been named and renamed several times with the last being The Lutheran Child Welfare Association. This orphanage operated from 1940-1960. Were you adopted during that time? Read below for more info:

The Lutheran seminary relocated in 1913, and its buildings were occupied by the Chicago City Mission Society, which opened a home for troubled youth referred by the courts. The Addison Manual Training School for Boys and Industrial School for Girls, known as the Kinderheim, opened in 1916. A new, larger facility housing 250 children was built in 1925, adjacent to the Orphan Home. The Kinderheim and the Orphan Home combined in 1940 under the Lutheran Child Welfare Association and operated until 1960.

I would first try calling the Dupage County Courthouse, since Addison islocated in that county, to see if anyone knows where the records for the orphange are kept.

Here's the address I found:

DuPage County Courthouse
421 North County Farm Road
Wheaton, IL 60189

Court Clerk
(630) 407-8700

Office Hours
8:30am - 4:30pm
Monday - Friday

Hope this helps in your search! Good luck!!

Edit: If they don't have the records, try the State of Illinois Birth Records Division but, I am sure that Dupage County can direct you to the right place to check next.

Can you ask your adoptive parents which orphanage they took you from? this should help. Or just google it, if it still exists.
