I found him registered in the A/M/J, quarter of 1927, this is quite normal as there is a period of 42 days ( six weeks)allowed to register a birth. This is what it says John Thomas Moore mothers maiden name HODDER, Chapel -Le -Frith, volume 7B page 1329.
Chapel-Le -Frith is in Derbyshire. Do you know when Maud was born ?. This information came from www.ancestry.co.uk if you were to email me I can share the image with you, but it doesn't work unless I have an actual email address, and I really don't think your useless did you say, we all have to start somewhere. I have the world deluxe subscription with ancestry.co.uk / .com , its really easy to use and you can use the pay per view system with them now.
Hope this helps.
Do you think this could be your Maud Hodder,
England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index: 1837-1983
about Maud Hodder
Name: Maud Hodder
Year of Registration: 1904
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Bakewell (1839 Onw)
County: Derbyshire
Volume: 7b
Page: 893 (
I will have a look to see if I can find any more information on this Maud for you. I will have a look to see if this Maud married, and when.

Try the free BMD.

Try the 1901 census, look up the Father and go from there.
For Army records try www.modoracle.com and ask on there.

Try your local library. They should have free access to geneology sites.

with the information you have got it might be an idea to see if there is a record of his death sometimes its easier to work backwords a death certificate shows details of birth and parents hope this helps

If everything else fails I would search for him in the national archives. As a British citizen you have the right to look for records of any person in the national archives in Kew, London.
Any records you'll find on genealogy websites are most likely to have been taken from the national archives, and it won't cost you anything to search them either.

If your relative was a registered British (or Irish) citizen then this is where you will find him.

I have tried a search using my Ancestry prog. It didnt find him How certain are you of his DOB? I have started your tree on my prog in an effort to help. (I have gone back to 1763 on mine so far). I would like to see some documents etc if I am to offer any help.
