Position:Home>Genealogy> Passenger lists. Sailings from Glasgow.?

Question:In 1905, my grandfather sailed from Glasgow to New York.

I got this information from a web site that specialises in providing passenger lists for ships that sailed from the U.K. Other information, e.g. the name of the ship, the exact date of sailing etc is not available.

Is there someway that I can get additional information, about the name of the ship he sailed on, from Glasgow and also be able to see who the other passengers were on the lists?

Perhaps there is some agency in Glasgow that I could contact!

Any help will be most gratefully appreciated.

Try the links below, findmypast has passengers departing from the UK from 1890 to 1940's

The Elisisland web site lets you search for arrivals into New York register (free) with the web site so that you can view the Ships Manifest,

The Maritime Museum might be able to give you more details on the ship.

Good luck and good hunting

you could try contacting british waterways, maybe they could point you in the right direction. sorry i cant be anymore help http://www.fortunecity.com/littleitaly/a...

also try this link

Ancestry.com has MANY passenger lists (not all of them in the world), and these are the original ship listings, including showing the dates, notes, etc. And, yes, having the original image means you can see who else sailed with him.
It isn't a free website, but since it does have 'more' info than other places, it can be very worthwhile. I have also found, after knowing the name of the ship.. I was able to search for the ship line, who had a website itself, including even photos of of the ship itself. Ancestry also has census records, which will show grandpa after he settled in the US, and if he was naturalized, etc.
Every ancestor is unique in what you will locate. Most of the ancestors I 'work', came to the US long before the ships records survived, so they no longer are available.

Here's a list of web sites that you may find really useful,

http://www.cyndislist.com/ships.htm
The site posted below is excellent, I know it sounds like a medical site but there is lots more besides, this is where I found the sites I've posted for you.

Hope this helps.

This site:
http://www.findmypast.com/passengerListP...
Gives precise info about the ship and date etc. but you have to buy credits to access the precise details. Also this site might be of use:
http://www.ellisisland.org/

I would suggest the following:

www.ellisisland.org
or
www.ancestry.com
