I've just tried the National Archives medal card index and got TWELVE William John Olivers. I guess eight died (and are on the CWGC site) and only four lived. That's a sobering statistic in itself. Oliver, William John Chambers Corps: South Lancashire Regiment Regiment No: 265221 Rank: Private Oliver, William John Corps: Army Service Corps Regiment No: M2/378383 Rank: Private Oliver, William John Corps: Royal Defence Corps Regiment No: 51327 Rank: Private Oliver, William John Corps: Essex Regiment Regiment No: 57689 Rank: Private Oliver, William John Corps: Middlesex Regiment Regiment No: F/34 Rank: Private Oliver, William John Corps: Yorkshire Light Infantry Regiment No: 2869 Rank: Private Oliver, William John Corps: King's Liverpool Regiment Regiment No: 4615 Rank: Private Oliver, William John Corps: Royal Field Artillery Regiment No: 2703 Rank: Gunner Oliver, William John Corps: Royal Field Artillery Regiment No: 75766 Rank: Bombardier Oliver, William John Corps: Royal Field Artillery Regiment No: 18910 Rank: Gunner Oliver, William John Corps: Royal Field Artillery Regiment No: 75766 Rank: Driver Oliver, William John Corps: King Edward's Horse Regiment No: 1379 Rank: Private Does the medal plaque not include his service number or regiment? I see four are in the Royal Field Artillery. Are those the four you have narrowed it down to? |
