Question Home

Position:Home>Genealogy> Is there anywhere I can get a free (truly free, not free for a certain time) anc

Question:Sure.

Go to Roots Web World Connect,

http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb...

Enter surname Pack and spouse Walzer. Pick the data base named "tedpack".

It is free. You can admire it every day, for free. You can print it off, for free. You can use it as an example of quality work and solid research, once you get beyond 1900 to the Packs in West Virginia. People born after that are private, so their notes and sources are erased.

Have fun!

You may be able to find a related tree (not yours exactly unless your brother or sister has researched it :) ) online at

rootsweb.com
familysearch.org
cyndislist.com (search surnames)

BUT there's a catch. Many user-submitted trees are not verified. People often do sloppy research or downright lie (gasp!)

The only way to obtain YOUR own tree would be to research it yourself. Come on -- you can do it! It's not that difficult, and it's lots of fun!

If you are interested in researching your tree, see the "How do I get started?" link at familysearch.org.

Do you want a printed page that looks like a tree where you can write (or run through your printer), or just the information on a family tree? If you want the printed page, I've seen lots of those at scrapbooking type stores, but I'd let your fingers do the walking and call before you drive to a store without success.

If you want the information, I think the first answer you received was the perfect one that hit it! That is a great site to start with, and there are many other sites that would add to it. I personally do lots of genealogy, and love it. It does, however, require a great deal of patience because at times you can search and search without any information. Yet other times, you can search and get tons of information.

If you need and/or want research tips, I come across websites and other people who do a lot of this, and I'd be happy to share any information you'd like. Just email me at bigfoot_chris on this site....

On ancestry.com there you can build your family tree for free. It cost money for specific information, but it usually gives enough for a general Idea. I believe that there is also something called roots.com, or something like that but I'm not positive.
