When someone comes up against a brick wall i.e. name on late Fathers?

Question:Birth certificate is incorrect what can be done to find the correct name of my late father. I discovered this when I researched some army medals of his brothers. There the trail ends?

I would reach out to any of many genealogical societies, including the LDS genealogical organizations. Also, since he was definitely military, check with the National Archives in Washington, D.C. Someone should be able to guide you there.

Have you looked at your parent's marriage certificate? Did he leave a will? If he was known under two names it might give both names there.Can you get in contact with his brother's descendants. They might know his correct name.
