Position:Home>Genealogy> What do you know about Ann Catherine Buzhardt, SC, 1750s-1770s?

Question:I'm trying to find information on Ann Catherine Buzhardt/Bussart. John Buzhardt had a daughter by this name but I believe I'm searching for Catherine who was born in the mid 1700s. I'm looking for ancestors of John Buzhardt. If I can learn about them I believe some of the information will fall into place.

I could not find information specific to Ann Catherine Buzhardt, but I found a few possible resources for you:

1. There's a tree at rootsweb.com listing John's father as Felix Boser with the note "Granted land on Cannons Creek SC 11/6/1750." You could contact the person who created this tree (email is at site) and see what sources they used and whether they're "legit." Don't accept this as true without GOOD documentation.

2. The South Carolina Department of Archives and History has a WONDERFUL online records index containing:

Confederate Pension Applications 1919 - 1938 Criminal Journals 1769 - 1776
Index to Multiple Record Series ca. 1675 -1929
Legislative Papers 1782 - 1866
National Register of Historic Places
Plats for State Land Grants 1784 - 1868
School Insurance Photographs 1935 - 1952
Will Transcripts 1782 - 1855

These are indexes, not the actual documents, but even the descriptions reveal a lot of information. If you can get to the Archives, then you can read the actual documents.

I found several Buzhardts in the indexes but in the 1800s and 1900s, not 1700s. However, there are names such as Bussott, Bussard, Buzzard, and Boser in the indexes for documents from the 1700s. It's very likely that one or more of these is an ancestor of John, giving that name spellings were not standardized.

The site has many other resources as well AND they accept RESEARCH QUERIES! Perhaps they can either find the information you seek or at least give you some "pointers."

I hope these suggestions help! Good luck in your research!
