Contact the "Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness" site to see whether a volunteer in Massachusetts would look this up for you. The research is free, but copying is not:

http://www.raogk.org/

One would need to go to the Registry of Vital Records and Statistics in Dorchester, MA in person to research state records. See
http://www.mass.gov/?pageID=eohhs2termin...

Their site reads: "For specific questions about the use of public indexes, the examination of records, extracting information from public records, record restrictions, and genealogical research facilities, call (617) 740-2600 or email vital.recordsrequest@state.ma.us."

It seems 1959 records would NOT be restricted but I would contact them to make sure. (Out-of-wedlock birth info is restricted to access by the child or parents or guardians.)

Good luck in your search!

You cannot. Most of the people born in 1959 are still alive. It would be an invasion of their privacy to have such an index. Most of my friends think I'm 39, for instance, because of my boyish sense of humor. It is none of their business that I'm older.

There are some birth records for some counties on some US Gen Web sites, but for the most part no state has a birth index online for any years later than 1900.
