Immigration and Naturalization records show "Blackie Smith" was actually born Dietriech Schwartzkopf Kowalski in Berlin on February 29, 1912. He ran from German conscription in 1938 and escaped into France. While there, he met an American ex-patriot named Abraham Lincoln Simpson of Springfield. Uncle Abe was the one who introduced Blackie to America and helped him escape from Vichy France with the aid of Varian Fry. They hiked up into the Pyrenees mountains, dragging that darned Marc Chagall the whole way. When they got to the border with Spain, Blackie was the last to cross. The Vichy government was on their trail the whole way, but being the artistic genius that Blackie was, he painted and entire faux forest and strung it across their hiding spot so that the Vichy couldn't see them as they made their way to the safety of Spain and on to America. Silvia was born Silvia al Dente Floss, but also changed her name to protect her aging father, a mafioso from Calambria as they fled for the safety of America just before the war. They went to Chicago and were kept safe by the patronage of an old friend of Mr al Dente Floss'...one Frank Nitti. Mr. Nitti was also a friend of Abe Simpson's and when the two met for dinner one night and mentioned his German-Pole artist friend who was hiding out in his pink palace in Springfield, Frank mentioned that he, too, had house guests and wondered aloud if the lovely Silvia and sex-starved Dietrich might not be good companions for each other. Nitti was the one who Americanized Dietrich's name to Blackie Smith and gave him his first job working as a numbers runner for the Chicago mob. The family coat of arms was actually appropriated from another family along the route out of Vichy France. I believe Dietrich won it in a poker game one night. You'll note the mermaid holding the anchor...but the anchor is upside down representing the turmoil in the Smith family during pre-War Europe: http://www.houseofnames.com/fc.asp?sId=&... This, I'm told, is the official Kowalski family coat of arms. I'm confused why noble and royal Poles didn't know better than to use a big W on their coat of arms. Perhaps they won it in a craps game with Wrong Way Feldman. http://www.houseofnames.com/fc.asp?sId=&... If you know the ares in which they live you could look them up on www. whitepages.com and get address and phone number. Goof luck with your search. good LUCK WITH THAT! I THINK ABOUT EVERYBODY NOSE A SMITH. THEY RUN IN MY BLOOD! Hahaha, aren't u funny... What a SILLY SAUSAGE you are! I hope nobody is dumb enough to take you seriously!!!!! Ted, i tried to reply to your email but couldn't, so hope the above change pleases. is this just a made up family? if not than maybe you can.... i got nothing Have you tried the Smith factory. I can't remember where it is but that's where they manufacture all those smiths. = ) LOL! Aren't they related to the Jones family I am not sure...but I think you may be joking.... I refer to the link: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?... If you truly are serious, and I have been mistaken about the possible humor of the situation...please let me know and I will try to be of assistance. Sincerely.... You are funny.......thanks for the laugh my friend...... Gee, I wonder if DON BREAKS has a twin sister named DAWN, or if GAIL FORCE's brother married STORMY WEATHERS? Did Ann marry Barry Mienot on the lone prairie?? What "Simpsons" show did these come from??Think "Springfield" gave it away. P.S Al B. Seeinya, Ted!! LOL Ah, Ted... You got one of the names wrong . I am also related to Blackie; however, Paige is married to a guy named Don but Breaks is his mothers maiden name and his middle name. His last name is Wind. His sister Gail is Blackie ,Jr.s wife so Wind is her maiden name too. I don't know if you have seen the coat of arms, but it has a tree in the middle that doesn't fork, which is representative of his ancestry. The family motto is "You might be a redneck..." Oh yeah, Ted. You might want to edit your question to let everyone know which Springfield you are talking about. I know which one you are talking about, but others may not. Of course many people don't realize that there is a Springfield in more than one state: City State County Springfield WI Walworth Springfield ID Bingham Springfield OH Clark Springfield GA Newton Springfield MD Calvert Springfield OR Lane Springfield PA Delaware Springfield SC Beaufort Springfield MD PrinceGeorges Springfield VA Fairfax Springfield GA Clayton Springfield VA Westmoreland Springfield GA Dougherty Springfield VA York Springfield NH Sullivan Springfield AR Conway Springfield VA Fauquier Springfield GA Richmond Springfield TN Robertson Springfield NC Guilford Springfield SC Charleston Springfield AL Elmore Springfield VA Albemarle Springfield MA Hampden Springfield TN Blount Springfield PA Bradford Springfield LA Livingston Springfield MI Calhoun Springfield NJ Union Springfield TX Anderson Springfield AL Lauderdale Springfield CA Tuolumne Springfield IN LaPorte Springfield FL Bay Springfield MD Montgomery Springfield GA Cherokee Springfield AL Clarke Springfield NC Mecklenburg Springfield VA Page Springfield AL Randolph Springfield MO Greene Springfield ME Penobscot Springfield NY Otsego Springfield VT Windsor Springfield MD Talbot Springfield MI Oakland Springfield IL Sangamon Springfield SC Orangeburg Springfield GA DeKalb Springfield GA Effingham Springfield FL Duval Springfield AR Mississippi Springfield NJ Burlington Springfield MS Jefferson Springfield CO Baca Springfield WV Hampshire Springfield NE Sarpy Springfield SD BonHomme Springfield VA Rockbridge Springfield IN Posey Springfield KY Washington Springfield NC Scotland Springfield TX Limestone Springfield GA Hancock Springfield GA Taliaferro Springfield MN Brown I hope this helps. Peace to you, friend. Please Ted, don't play with us. This is just a ploy to send readers to your web sites, which are very informative I might add. Ted is making an indirect plea to urge specificity in genealogical research. Blackie, Polly, Chuck, and Bubba are all nicknames--never mind all the puns. Springfield could be any number of places, and as Wendy C. will soon point out, coats of arms are only issued to individuals, not families. Besides there's a certain amount of reverse snobbery involved in being just plain John or Jane Smith. Was able to find some information. First off, it seems that Aretha was the MIDDLE NAME of the wife of Chuck, though it seems that was the name she went by. Her first name was actually "May". Paige and Don had a child "Evan". Though they had a hard time conceiving and never thought they would get one. And you can find your coat-of-arms at... www.takemymoneyplease.com Cabin fever is contagious isn't it :-} the devilishly handsome Ted strikes again.. and we were watching for him. I just should have known better than to have coffee in my mouth, before reading the replies. Now, there is coffee, dripping off my monitor again. Evie, your email is not open, hope you see this. Nothing personal intended for someone whose name is actually Smith. the direction is friendly camaraderie, which is completely open to all. |
