Question:The National census for the UK actually began in 1801, but the census returns taken up to 1841 were deemed not suitable for genealogy purposes. Here's a list of the dates in full.

your probably spelling census wrong

I know that one cencus around that time got burned in a fire or something. Someone I work with, who researches their family tree, told me that.

i can get it but i subscribe to the ancestry UK website.
i think the burnt records thingy relates to Ireland.

The British census started in 1801.

www.familysearch.org has the british census for 1881 for free

The first True British Census Was the 1837 Census.There Were Census of a Kind before that .But very Limited.Most records Before that are in Parish Records.
