Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I'm 1/128 something how many times x great grandparents was that?

That's 7 generations back...or your 5th great grandparent

1. parent (2)
2. grandparent (4)
3. great-grandparent (8)
4. great-great grandparent(16)
5. great-great-great grandparent (32)
6. great-great-great-great grandparent (64)
7. great-great-great-great-great grandparent (128)

You have 128 great-great-great-great-great-great-gran... (6 "greats")

Edit: Oops! Sorry! Got my "grand" mixed in with my "greats." Other posters saying 5 greats are correct!

Assuming that none of your other ancestors contribute to that 1/128th (or 0.78% if I did the math right), and you can trace that heritage back ONLY to the one grandparent, it would be your 5th great-grandparent.

If you are 1/128th.........
~Your parent would be 1/64th or 1.56%
~Their parent would be 1/32 or 3.125% (your grandparent)
~Their parent would be 1/16 or 6.25% (your great grandparent)
~Their parent would be 1/8 or 12.5% (your 2nd great grandparent)
~Their parent would be 1/4 or 25% (your 3rd great grandparent)
~Their parent would be 1/2 or 50% (your 4th great grandparent)
~Their parent would be the person in question who is 100% whatever heritage you are talking about, who would be your 5th great-grandparent.
