Question:I am looking for information on my Elliott ancestors in Kentucky. My line ends with the birth of James Elliott in 1803 who lived in Daviess and Hancock counties. We have hints that he may have been born in Jefferson county. So, if someone has this source, I am looking for any obituary that lists the name James Elliott. There is another person of the same age with the same name, but I can usually descern the two.

I don't know where you are at, but many libraries have genealogy rooms with tons of reference books available. Also try ask.com, and search to see if the county you want has a website - a lot of times they will have complete listings for the state, or a cemetery roster that you can trace from. Also, if you can, try ancestry.com or rootsweb.com - they have many many resources available.

I have a James Elliott in my family database, but have no dates. His granddaughter was Katie Belle Pierce, born about 1863 in New Jersey - she is the first one that has dates. It ties into a distant cousin of mine.

I'll help more if I can! Good Luck!
