Position:Home>Genealogy> I have a theory about my potential height... do you think this is somewhat true?

Question:Well I'm 14, female and I'm 5'8... I come 100% from my dad dads side of the family and I look very much like my grandgranduncle and grandfather and they were both pretty tall... over 6'0 and something... so does that mean I will still grow? Does anybody else know any ways to calculate or guess your potential height?

Hello Danielle,

I saw your question and recalled I had a recollection of reading a long while ago that your height at age 2 can be doubled to determine you fully grown height.

To try and find any information I used the Google search engine and entered:

height +calculation +"age two"

This gave several answers, some of which support my original thought of doubling height at age 2 and some showing this to be silly.

You may find it worth having a look but I appreciate this does not help you at your present age - but some of the sites mention other ages.

Cheers,

Alec.

You have already asked this question and it has already been answered. Go look at it instead of re-asking it. The answers will not change just because you re-ask the question.

Females grow faster when they are in their preteens. You are more than like as tall as you are going to get, but you may grow 1 to 2 more inches at most.

Males grow faster during Teenage years.

your question has some key words in it...
guess is the main word, theory is another one. Potential is still another.
All ANYONE can say to be true is "probably". Nothing is absolute in this, except you already know you ARE tall. You might grow a bit more. Persons USUALLY reach full height somewhere in their late teens.
You may also have your mom's eye color. No one is 100% of either parent.

Hard to do, Im sorry to say.
I am 5'9" my daughter's father is 6'5 1/2", my daughter, who was the tallest girls in the class all the way up to junior high, is going on 18 and is only 5'5", only one half of an inch taller than she was at 11 yrs of age. (she was 49" tall in kindergarten)
Lots of things come into play, such as the fact that my grt grandma was 4'10" and grt grandpa was 6'7"...my grandmother was 5'`10", her sister ranged from 4'10" to 5'5".
If youre 14, you probably only have about another inch or so coming to you....I was 5'8" in 7th grade....

Apparently the height you are when you are three, double it, and that's how tall (approx) you'll be as an adult. I tested it on my little brother and it came up true.

I don't think there's a genetic pre-disposition though, as my brothers are both tall, and my dad's not. I'm the same height as my mum though.

Look up the term Punnett Square.
Punnett squares will help you see what percentage a person has to inherit a particular trait.
