Question:Were their any noble families (those that bore a coat of arms) that originated from the area we today know as Switzerland? If so could you give me a few of their names?

Yes and no. It was the exiled German, French, Austrian and Italian princes and patricians who brought their heraldry with them, but they didn't have "family names". They were members of the "House of Hanover," etc.
