Anglo Saxon specifically refers to English.

However, the English are really mutts. They had Celtic people there originally. Then the Roman came. Aftter that they were invaded by the Germanic Angles, Saxons and Jutes. Then the Danes came. After that the Normans from what is called Normandy in France.

That is why our language is so mongrelized.
You frequently have more than one word to mean the same thing. Oh, some people will put differet semantics to them. Then you will have one word that can mean something entirely different depending on how it is used in a sentence.

Also there is no absolute true phonic system in English.

Your question is confusing. Are you asking if most English people today are of Anglo-Saxon ancestry? Or do you have a question about modern Englishmen who are of Anglo-Saxon ancestry.

Given the colonial melting pot, particularly post-WWII, it's difficult to find any homogenous European country. Even the French are heavily Dutch, Flemish, Moroccan, Polish and Turkish in their ancestry. England is so far from homogenous that it's not funny.

Most people of English ancestry are just as different as Americans. We can trace our ancestry to place like Holland. Ireland, Scotland and Wales. As well as France,
German(were the original Saxons came from). Some can even trace a part of the family to place like Persia( middle east) and India.Like I said people of English ancesty are just as deverse as any other culture.I'm sure just about all people of the ancesty can trace their family to any county in the world.
Just like most American's can.

A little diverse I think than that

Most of us in the UK do have Anglo-Saxon ancestry, but we have always taken in people from abroad and we continue to do so. When I was about 14 we got the first pupils from India and Pakistan prior to that we had Polish and Italian after WW2, Lately we have had a lot of people from Eastern Europe, The UK demographic is constantly changing and while this can cause tensions in the short term in the long term we are a richer society because of there input into our Country.

No. The "melting pot" is just that. The cross marrying between cultures and ethnicity's has diluted any Blue blood lines. Even the European blood lines are no longer true "Caucasian" in the dictionary sense of the word. As the various countries were invaded throughout history blood lines were inter mingled giving us the generic WHITE vs BLACK blood lines. We have the Sicilian Black Italians, Black Irish, Mexican Mulattoes, etc. Hope that helps.
