Holland, if the answer I found to your "Sink" question was accurate. The distinction was slight before 1800. A lot of "Pensylvania Dutch" were really "Pennsylvania Deutch".

in a round-about way... your own comments on your Sink question, answer and explain your own. You already have learned your personal ancestor is from Rotterdam. The "link" site is completely generalized and impersonal .. which they don't care, since all they want is to sell keychains.
Expecting to find a central "origin" in Germany for "one" Zinck family is just as generalized. It is dependent on finding which of your ancestors was actually born in Germany (or were they??), and the exact location for him. There is no guarantee that all Zincks came from any one locality/ town/ ancestor.
Its a catch 22 question, if you are familiar with the phrase.
