I'm pretty sure that Don Rickles is not Jimmy Norton's father. Jimmy Norton hails from New Jersey while Don Rickles hails from New York. Also, according to Don Rickles wikipedia page:

Rickles and his wife Barbara are close friends with comedian Bob Newhart and his wife, Ginny, and they often vacation together. Rickles and Newhart appeared together on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on January 24, 2005, the Monday following Johnny Carson's death, reminiscing about their many guest appearances on Carson's show, including footage of the "cigarette box incident".

Rickles has been married for over 41 years to his wife, Barbara, who is from Philadelphia. They have a daughter, Mindy, a son, Larry and two grandchildren, Ethan and Harrison Mann. According to Rickles' memoir, his grandchildren are much more impressed by his having played "Mr. Potato Head" than by any of his other career achievements.

I believe that if Jim Norton was in fact his son, there would be documentation of it all over the web.

Hi Oscar,

I hope you are not sitting at your PC waiting.

If you look at how quickly the reasonable questions have been answered here, and how long yours has been posted with no responses, you may realize something isn't clicking.

I know people who would be happy to research both lines for you, at $40 an hour. You would have to give them Jimmy's and Don's ancestry back to 1920, so that they could take it up from there. If you don't know, they would have to write for SSN applications, death certificates, birth certificates or other documents, which would delay their efforts and cost you money, since they'd pass those costs right on to you. Most of the easy-to-find data on the Internet is about people born before 1920.

The professionals would either find a common ancestor or not, and document their efforts. Most have a 12-hour minimum and none offer a guarantee of anything save they will work that many hours. They may find lots of data; they may not.

Let me know if you'd like some names. My source is 30 years of research. I'm pretty reliable, but I tend to be less polite than the other warm, witty, intelligent and devilishly handsome people who frequent this little corner of YA.
