I have never heard of the name before but I did find this on www.ancestry.com for you,
Strunk
North German: from Middle Low German strunk ‘stalk’, ‘stump’, hence a nickname for a short, stout, ungainly person, or a topographic name for someone who lived in an area with tree trunks.
hope this helps.

The most famous Strunk I'm aware of is William Strunk, Jr., author of the 1918 book "The Elements of Style," a classic guide to clear, concise, forceful writing.

The book is sometimes known as "Strunk & White," due to a 1959 edition updated by Strunk's former student E.B. White, a writer who is probably best known for "Charlotte's Web."

"Strunk & White" is still widely used in writing classes.

http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.c...
has 26,290 entries for the surname.

http://www.census.gov/cgi-bin/namesearch...
says it was 4,060th in popularity in the USA in 1990. (Pack was 1,681st, Smith and Johnson 1st and 2nd.)

It is rare but not unknown. I have a well-thumbed copy of Strunk & White.

There is a Strunk Rd near Jamestown N.Y.
that no doubt was named after someone.

Yahoo people search is good place to start, then the geneology desk at your library may be able to give you many tips on searching

I went to high school with Marietta Strunk. That was only 400 miles north of Cincinnati. Who knows, you could well be related.
