Position:Home>Genealogy> Where would you situate the last name Nollet or what does it mean ?

Question:curious

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: curious

Based on the way it is spelled I would say your best bet is to start looking in France and work your way out from there into Belgium or Switzerland. Of course that is only going from the appearance of the name. Your personal appearance and the biological clues from your family's appearance and traits could also give extensive clues.

If you go to the web page for the Family History Library you can see some possible places of origin of the name.
There are several in Quebec, as well as France and Belgium. There are even some in the British Isles. You would need to trace the individual family to find out exactly where the name originates. Another good site is Cyndi's List for a general mainstream view of genealogy.

Contact your local public library or genealogical society to help you get started with genealogy research.

Good Luck!

There are others from Canada, France and the USA. I can't find a meaning for it, though. It looks to be French, but at least some of them left the Catholic chiuch and were exiled for their pains.
