It sounds like the first poster probably has the correct answer, although I would have guessed it was Thai or Cambodian, or something from that area of the world (Southeast Asia).

The only way to trace yor ancestry is to trace it. The son of my favorite Chinese restaurant owner thought he was a confederate, because his surname was Lee. Surnames are tricky.

Wherever the ancestor with the name, came from.
Stop by www.familysearch.org, and just do a fast survey of the extracted records (IGI). The name shows up in Hungary, but ALSO in Denmark and Germany.
Names are not limited to any one place. You have to trace YOUR family back to the immigrant, and confirm their origin to be certain.
